Insolvency Service takes tougher line with bankrupts

An article in the Independent reports that over the past 12 months, the Insolvency Service has obtained bankruptcy restriction orders against 443 bankrupts, a 21% increase on the previous year.

The report suggests that the increase in orders relates to solicitors, acting on behalf of HMRC, becoming more aggressive and arguing that unpaid taxes warrant a bankruptcy restriction order.
